Sold!…1968 Melges Inland 20

Wow…this is a museum piece.  All original Philippine mahogany brightwork, original Proctor spars and original halyard setup.  And…this boat has been upgraded to carry the new I20 asymmetric spinnaker.

Some features are too cool to change…others can be upgraded without regret.  This boat came from Wisconsin, where it was made by Melges in 1968.  Light use; it sat on a trailer under a lake home for so long that they had to take down some trees to get it out.

This is a Melges M20 converted to an Inland 20.  It comes with serviceable Melges main and jib.  Trailer is in good condition.    The boom and keel-stepped mast are really pretty, originally made in England by Ian Proctor.  The Chautauqua N.Y. conversion team of Eric Hall and Jerry Plachotnik  upgraded this hull with the newly class-legal aluminum bowsprit.   There is no asymmetrical spinnaker but…we have been using reaching spinnakers from the old M20 class as practice chutes.

Why so cheap?  This is a beautiful boat with a super stiff deck and  dozens of great features, but we see a bit of softness below the mast step.  Nothing is preventing this boat from sailing, it’s just that the new owner may eventually want to re-core some spots on this lovely craft.  Leave your email as a comment on this page and will jump back to you!
