The Potomac River will be filled with Inland 20 scows from across the nation as sailors descend on Washington DC April 21-22 for the Third Annual Cherry Blossom Regatta.
Registration is $75 per boat and goes up to $90 per boat after April 10 at 9am ET.
Last year’s winner, Joe Ewing of Ohio, looks to defend his title as fastest scow sailor on the Potomac. At least six boats from Potomac will be hoping to stop Joe’s winning streak and claim some of the hardware that has been designed especially for the 2018 Cherry Blossom.
“We have an eye-popping trophy design this year: an I20 carved from cherry wood and mounted on a plaque with the Cherry Blossom Regatta design,” said regatta chair Stew Harris.
The carving is being done by the artisans at Twisted Oyster Boatworks in Valley Lee, MD. Owner Rick Loheed is a scow fanatic and has one of the region’s premier lathe and CNC operations. Twisted Oyster Boatworks
Boats from Indian Lake Ohio and Wawasee Indiana are considering the drive to Washington.
