Sheehan, Harris take PRSA honors
Scow Fleet Captain Jack Sheehan won the 2019 PRSA fall scow racing series and Scow Race Director Stew Harris won the spring series. The two scow sailors got their names on a plaque at the annual Potomac River Sailing Association soiree, Nov. 15 at the Heavy Seas in Arlington.
The PRSA also awarded Sheehan and Harris with the Nabeel Alsalem Award for fleet development. The scow fleet has grown to six I20s, one M scow and one MC Scow.
Eastern Championship Sept. 29
The Eastern I20 Championship will be held in conjunction with the Cantina Cup, a fundraiser for DC Sail.
Ewing Wins Cherry Blossom 2018
Joe and Cole Ewing of Ohio made it two wins in two years, laying claim to the Cherry Blossom 2018 on the Potomac River with bullets in four out of five races. Rookie Regatta a Big Hit!
Six scows vied for top honors at the Rookie Regatta May 6 with some teams comprised entirely of rookies, while others had old salts helping things along.
The Scooty Puff team (169) of rookie skipper Kody Lieberman and Jack Sheehan eeked out the win with two bullets and two seconds.
“This was my first time ever driving in a race,” Kody shared after receiving his prize, a beautiful water bottle festooned with the famous “Black Swan” of the Potomac Rivers Sailing Association.
