The 2017 spring race series got off to a bang Sunday, April 2 with the Potomac River Inland 20 fleet handling race committee.

Ohio scow experts Jeff Patten and Joe Ewing crewed for Potomac sailors Jack Sheehan, Carl Schaefer, Will Fenn, Trip Hook and others, as a way to transfer some knowhow.
Potomac sailors wrote down their impressions afterward and we share this now as a way to help everyone appreciate what these generous sailors imparted during their weekend in our fair city.
This beauty is a proven competitor with multiple outings including a strong showing at the 2017 Cherry Blossom. Known as “Firewater,” when she sailed in Lake James, Indiana, this boat had two owners and both were meticulous. At only 579lbs. (class weight is 595), Firewater is a nimble competitor. This boat became available for purchase April 2019.
Jack Sheehan completed conversion of his 1987 Johnson on Feb. 5 with the installation of an aluminum sprit, hood cover and bulkhead. The boat will be named “Scooty Puff,” a nod to the animation cult classic Futurama.
